Programming the World Wide Web by Robert W. Sebesta, 4th Ed., Addison Wesley, 2008. ISBN 0-321-48969-1. Students are expected to have this text at the first day of class and to bring the text to each class meeting.
Need:
Headphones if working in Engineering computer labs for some content.
Forum Participation:
Students are expected to participate in the dicussions in Blackboard Vista. It is expected that students will read Blackboard Vista at least every 48 hours.

Course Description from Catalog

Development of applications and models using Internet/Intranet technologies such as Java, JavaScript, conferencing systems, Dynamic HTML, server side scripting, multi-tier models, and XML. Prerequisite: EE 233 or permission of instructor. 3 hours. (1.0 S, 2.0 D)

Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to gain an understanding of the technologies, practices, and principles used in Internet and Intranet Applications.

Grades will posted on Blackboard Vista. Homeworks, if due on an assignment day, are due at the start of class. An automatic extension to 11:59pm of the same day is automatically granted for students who are in class that day. Assignments that are turned in past that deadline are penalized 20 points if turned in before two days before the next assignment is initially due and are not accepted past that time. Class participation includes attendance, asking ``on topic'' questions or otherwise making ``on topic'' contributions.

Major Assignments

Assignments will be (are) linked to the appropriate location against the syllabus on the web and any updates to these assignments will be made only to the web copy and announced in the class newsgroup or in class. Most assignments are to be done individually where any outside sources must be properly credited. It is academic misconduct to mispresent work that is someone elses as yours.

Graduate Student (EE547) Additional Requirement

Graduate students are required to select a Internet/Intranet topic that is an extension of the topics in the syllabus and prepare an anotated slide show for submission to the class at the end of the semester (see syllabus). Topics must be selected and approved prior class 15. A discussion topic in WebCT will be established for coordinating this assignment.
